sweet potato chaat recipe, how to make shakarkandi ki chaat for navratri

navratri fasting. but it tastes so good that you can have this chaat any time. the sweetness of the shakarkandi pairs very well with the slight pungency of the black pepper powder and the tang coming from the dry mango powder and lemon juice. overall a quick no fat snack to enjoy any time of the day.

while living in gurugram (gurgaon), on occasions we used to have shakarkandi chaat during the winters from the street side thela (food cart). i still remember the smoky flavor in the chaat coming from roasted sweet potatoes. the sweet potatoes would be roasted on coal and this would give them a lovely smoky flavor, that you will not get if you roast the sweet potatoes in an oven or steam them in a pressure cooker or pan. but nevertheless this recipe of sweet potato chaat still tastes good.

i have used here spice powders which are consumed during navratri fasting. but if not fasting, then you can always add your choice of spice powders. sweet potato chaat makes for a healthy snack option during the fasts.
