ingredients (measuring cup used, 1 cup = 250 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • ½ cup quick cooking oats
  • 3 cups milk
  • ⅓ cup sugar or add as per taste
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • a pinch of saffron strands
  • 3 to 4 almonds, chopped
  • 3 to 4 pistachios, chopped
  • 6 to 7 cashews, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon golden raisins, chopped
how to make the recipe:
  1. chop all the dry fruits, keep all the ingredients ready for the oats kheer recipe.
  2. heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a thick bottomed pan.
  3. add ½ cup oats.
  4. stir well and saute for 2 to 3 mins on low flame.
  5. then add 3 cups of milk. add ⅓ cup sugar. mix well.
  6. simmer for 2 to 3 minutes on a low flame, till the oats soften.
  7. add chopped dry fruits, raisins, pinch of saffron strands and ¼ teaspoon of cardamom powder.
  8. simmer for 2 minutes more and switch off the flame. don't boil the kheer too much else it will become a thick kheer. when the kheer cools down then it will thicken more.
  9. serve oats kheer warm or chilled as a breakfast or dessert post meals.

1. adding dry fruits and saffron is optional. you can skip dry fruits if you want. 2. you can add dry fruits of your choice.
